Jack H. Brown, chairman and CEO of the largest privately-owned supermarket chain in California Stater Bros Markets, has announced the promotion of Phillip J. Smith to the newly created position of executive vice president finance, chief financial officer and chief accounting officer.


Smith, who has 30 years of financial experience in the supermarket industry, has been with Stater Bros for 19 years. He came to Stater Bros as controller and has held various positions with the company, including vice president-controller, chief accounting officer, chief financial officer and senior vice president.
