Supervalu, one of the largest grocers in the US, has named ex-General Mills executive John Hanlin to the new position of vice president of food and safety.
Hanlin served as director of microbiology and thermal process at General Mills, the US-based food giant.
In his new role, Hanlin will be responsible for directing Supervalu’s food safety and quality assurance programs and ensure regulatory compliance, including product recalls.
Jeff Noddle, Supervalu chairman and CEO, said: “The integrity of our food supply chain has always been of the utmost importance to Supervalu, and the creation of this position will help the company put a fine point on it. Food safety is an increasingly complex and visible issue, and John’s background in this area will be a tremendous asset to the company.”
