US retailer Supervalu Inc is to open 13 of its Save-A-Lot discount stores across the US over the next month.

The first of the stores will open this month, with three set to open in Tennessee, and three in New York. The remaining seven will open in Pennsylvania and Ohio by the end of March.

The three Tennessee stores will be located in Woodbury, Nashville and Chattanooga and will bring the total number of Save-A-Lot outlets in the state to 108.

Also this month, three stores will open in New York in Auburn, Holley and Hamburg, bringing the total number of Save-A-Lot outlets in New York to 52.

In Pennsylvania, Supervalu is planning four store openings in Tyrone, Meadville, Erie. There will then be 76 Save-A-Lot stores in the state.

Finally, Ohio will benefit from the opening of three stores by the end of March, bringing the total to 108. The stores will be located in Wadsworth, Cincinnati and Columbus.
