Grocery chain Supervalu has announced that, in connection with its proposed acquisition of certain operations of Albertson’s, it will increase the size of its board of directors to 14 – filling three vacancies with independent members.
 
The three new directors are retired MediaOne International CEO Gary Ames, Canadian Tire Corporation vice chairman Wayne Sales, and retired Kimberly-Clark Corporation executive vice president Kathi Seifert.

The appointments are conditioned on the consummation of the proposed acquisition and effective at a date after the company’s next annual meeting of stockholders, which is scheduled for 28 June 2006.
