TreeHouse Foods has sealed the acquisition of San Antonio Farms, a Texas-based maker of Mexican sauces.

TreeHouse, whose products range from pickles to salad dressings, confirmed it would pay US$88.5m for the business. The deal was initially agreed in April.

President and COO David Vermylen said: “This business will be an excellent fit with our Bay Valley Foods business and will be a great platform for us to pursue additional opportunities in the growing Mexican and south-western food categories.”

TreeHouse said it does not anticipate any “significant changes” to San Antonio’s existing operations. San Antonio’s headquarters will remain in the namesake Texan city, TreeHouse said yesterday (31 May).
