TreeHouse Foods looks set to buy San Antonio Farms, a producer of Mexican sauces based in Texas.

TreeHouse, which produces a range of products including pickles, soups and salad dressings, said today (23 April) that it has agreed to pay US hedge fund Silver Ventures US$88.5m for the business.

Chairman and CEO Sam Reed said the company was “very excited” to add Mexican sauces to its portfolio. He added: “Salsa, picante and other Mexican sauces are experiencing great growth and private label Mexican sauces are growing even faster than the total category.”

For the year to 30 March, San Antonio Farms generated revenues of $45.3m, TreeHouse said.
