David S Wong and Davis Chu were allegedly involved in a plot to import millions of pounds of falsely labelled catfish into the US. Ten seafood companies and six individuals have been implicated, the Justice department said.

The companies named in the indictment, which was returned by a federal grand jury on 24 May, include: Virginia Star Seafood Corp., International Sea Products Corp. and Silver Seas Co.

According to the indictment, between July 2004 and June 2005 Virginia Star Seafood Corporation and International Sea Products Corporation, illegally imported over ten million pounds of Vietnamese catfish from Vietnamese companies Binh Dinh, Antesco and Anhaco.

An anti-dumping duty was placed on the importation of Vietnamese catfish in January 2003 after a petition was filed by US catfish farmers who alleged that the imports were being sold in the US at less than fair market value.
