Tyson Foods has voluntarily recalled 51,360 pounds of uncooked, foodservice chicken due to an undeclared soy-based allergen.

The affected products, which were sold to foodservice companies that typically supply restaurants, covers 29 US states.

Arkansas-based Tyson said it has not had any reported illnesses but initiated the recall as a precautionary measure.

Tyson had been in the process of reducing the number of allergens in the company’s foodservice products and produced some products with the old formulation while prematurely using a new label.

The products were produced at the company’s Vicksburg, Mississippi, location between 23 July and 5 August 2008.
