Unilever has recalled certain Shedd’s Country Crock side dishes across the US due to the threat of allergic reactions among consumers.
The company said a deluxe cheddar broccoli rice line and a deluxe four cheese pasta product may contain “undeclared sulphites”.
“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sulphites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products,” the company said.
“The recall was initiated after the company was notified by the co-manufacturer of the product that an ingredient containing sulphites was inadvertently used in the production of the chilled side-dish products. This issue has been addressed and safeguards have been put into place.”
Shedd’s Country Crock Deluxe Cheddar Broccoli Rice side dishes, with best-by dates of 29 November 2009 through to 16 January 2010, have been recalled. The UPC code is 027400218316.
