The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety Inspection Service revealed yesterday (7 March) that Unilever United States will voluntarily recall approximately 560,604 pounds of meatball and pasta products due to an undeclared allergen.

The US unit of the Anglo-Dutch consumer goods conglomerate was alerted by a supplier that product labels fail to specify the inclusion of egg white lysozyme on the ingredients list. No illness has been reported as a result of the allergen.

The products subject to recall are 24-ounce bags of Bertolli, Meatballs Pomodoro & Penne with peppers and onions in a tomato basil sauce, complete skillet meal for two.
