Pasta maker Philadelphia Macaroni Company has acquired a US pasta factory from Unilever.
Under the terms of the purchase agreement the Pennsylvania-based facility will transition to Philadelphia Macaroni in the first quarter of 2014. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Currently, the site manufactures pasta for the Knorr Pasta Sides and Lipton Soup Secrets products. The Harrisburg plant will continue to supply pasta to Unilever’s North America dry soups and sides businesses under a long-term supply agreement.
All 50 staff at the facility will be offered positions with Philadelphia Macaroni, a company spokesperson told just-food.
Luke Marano, Jr., Philadelphia Macaroni president, said: “This facility, complemented with its dedicated and professional workforce, is a valuable asset critical to the future development, growth and success of Philadelphia Macaroni Company. The long-term Unilever supply agreement will allow this facility to continue its evolution as a best-in-class source of pasta ingredients.”
Philadelphia Macaroni Company manufactures dry, frozen and speciality pasta for industrial, institutional, and contract retail customers.
