“The redundancies are related to the sale of Lawry’s to McCormick which was announced in November 2007 and approved by the SEC in August 2008,” plant manager Bob Wayman told just-food.

Currently 250 people are employed at the plant, which manufactures Lawry’s, Wishbone salad dressing and Lipton teas.

“The Independence plant will continue to produce Wishbone brand salad dressings and Lipton powdered and liquid teas which are the core products for the plant,” Wayman said.

The plant will continue to produce Lawry’s products until April 2009, with redundancies beginning in March as McCormick assumes responsibility for production at their manufacturing facilities.
