US grocery distributor United Natural Foods (UNFI) today (8 September) posted rising fourth-quarter earnings and sales, closing a year in which profits and revenue increased.
The company booked net income of US$17.6m for the three months to 31 July, against $15.5m a year earlier.
Fourth-quarter net sales jumped 15.8% to $988.5m. On an organic basis, excluding a contribution from the recently-acquired SunOpta business in Canada, net sales rose 13.2% to $966.4m.
“During the fourth quarter, our sales growth continued to accelerate as our business continued to experience strong growth,” said president and CEO Steven Spinner.
Annual net income stood at $68.3m, compared to $59.2m the year before. Net sales climbed 8.7% to $3.76bn.
