The US and Vietnam have agreed a bilateral deal to enhance food safety and trade.
A ceremony to sign the Memorandum of Understanding detailing the partnership will take place tomorrow (24 June) in Washington.
The agreement was envisioned during Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt’s trip to Vietnam.
Working with trading partners to ensure that quality is built into every step of a product’s life cycle is a key plank of the Import Safety Action Plan, presented in November 2007 by an interagency panel led by Secretary Leavitt.
