Wal-Mart Stores has estimated in a note to shareholders that its December comparable store sales rose by 1.6%.
The company said, in an end of reporting period sales summary, that the December five-week period extended from Saturday 25 November to Friday 29 December.
Wal-Mart said it would release final sales figures for the month this Thursday (4 January).
Wal-Mart posted a same-store sales decline of 0.1% during November, meaning the retailer’s first four-weekly sales decline in a decade.
