Higher fourth-quarter earnings has led US retailer Winn-Dixie Stores to raise its full-year profit forecast ahead of its annual results next month.

The company said yesterday (21 July) that it now expects adjusted EBITDA for its fiscal 2009 year to reach around US$164m – up from previous guidance of around US$152m.

Winn-Dixie expects turnover to climb 1.2% to US$7.4bn, with underlying identical-store sales also seen rising by 1.2%.

Looking ahead to fiscal 2010, identical-store sales will rise by 1-2%, Winn-Dixie said.

Gross margin is expected to be “slightly higher” than 2009, the retailer added.
