Queen Anne, the leading US brand of chocolate cordial cherries and one of the top five boxed chocolate brands sold during the holiday season, has been sold by Gray and Co to World’s Finest Chocolate (WFC) the company announced.

The agreement includes a long-term contract with Gray and Co, the world’s biggest manufacturer of maraschino cherries, who will continue to supply cherries for Queen Anne production. Production of the Queen Anne brand will be moved to WFC’s production facility in Chicago.

“This acquisition fits well with our growth strategy,” says Tyler Jeffrey, vice president of sales and marketing at WFC. “The addition of the Queen Anne brand gives WFC a strong position in the holiday retail market and the cordial manufacturing line can be easily added to our Chicago facility.”

The Queen Anne brand generates annual sales of US$30m.
