Australian confectioner Yowie Group is progressing its strategy to drive overseas expansion with the launch of a trial in Wal-Mart stores in Texas.
Yowie’s chocolate encased toys will be trialled at 50 Wal-Mart stores in October, the company revealed. Products will be featured in cash register end aisles, the company added.
Depending on the sales perfarmance, Yowie said that Wal-Mart would roll the brand out nationwide.
“The US remains the lead priority market for Yowie Group and the company remains focused on ddelivering our US growth goals before moving onto other global initiatives,” the company said in a statement.
Yowie plans to grow its business by extending distribution in Australia, New Zealand, Asia and North America. Expansion in the Middle East and Asia are “key priorities” for the second stage of the brand rollout, the company said.
The Yowie brand was formerly manufactured by Cadbury, which is now itself owned by Mondelez International.
