Reviving the 2000 year old plus recipe for the American conossieur consumer was the brainchild of Fortitude Brands managing partner Franco Stanzione, Jr. After slipping out of the olive oil business, Franco did some research of his own on the booming specialty premium cracker market—growing at a an annual rate of 4.9%.
So, he went back to his Venezuelan roots, and revived an age-old recipe for bread crackers: a tasty, versatile treat that is embraced by vegetarians and gourmets alike. The baking of these tasty crackers began in the Amazon region, with the Yano Mami and Arawacs tribes. The Yanomami are still there, the Arawacs are now extinct.
The crackers are made from a raw, pure yucca bulb which is pulverized, squeezed and pummeled into pulp. Then, each cracker is hand-cut and baked in traditional wood-burning ovens.
Casabe Rainforest Bread Crackers are made from 100% natural ingredients. No salt, sugar or preservatives are added, and have a shelf life of more than a year. They’re fat free—only 25 calories per serving.
