US convenience store chain 7-Eleven has announced the appointment of Russ Klein as managing director of marketing and Robin Michel as managing director of merchandising. Jay Giesen has been named managing director of Vcom.
Before joining 7-Eleven, Klein managed Whisper Capital Investments, a private investment and professional services LLC based in Chicago. He has held several executive positions in marketing and advertising, including executive vice president and managing director at Foote Cone and Belding, senior vice president, marketing, for Seven Up USA, and vice president and executive officer of the Dr Pepper-Seven Up Companies. He was also an officer at the Leo Burnett Company.
Michel joins 7-Eleven after more than six years with HEB Food/Drug Stores in San Antonio, Texas. She held several executive positions with the grocery retailer and most recently was the company’s group vice president, drug store procurement. Michel also worked for 12 years at the Kroger Company in Dallas, Texas.
Giesen most recently was senior vice president/general manager, global product development, at First Data Corporation/Western Union Financial Services. He held several senior executive-level positions at that company, including vice president, national accounts, and senior vice president/chief operating officer. Giesen also worked for Citicorp Retail Services as assistant vice president in the US Card Products Group, where he was responsible for the marketing of Citicorp’s Private Label credit card business, and for Doyle Dane Bernbach Advertising.
