US convenience store operator 7-Eleven has reported a 4.1% rise in same-store merchandise sales in the US, helped by new product introductions and the ongoing grocery strikes in southern California.
The company estimated the strikes and lockouts at Albertsons, Kroger’s Ralphs and Safeway’s Vons contributed about half a percentage point to the rise in same-store merchandise sales, reported Dow Jones News Service.
Total merchandise sales for November rose 5.4% to US$613.6m, while total sales, including fuel, were up 6.4% to $880.5m.
