Dutch retail giant Ahold has announced that its US subsidiary Tops Markets intends to divest its chain of 204 convenience stores.

These are Ahold’s last remaining convenience stores in the US. The convenience store chain includes 127 Wilson Farms Neighborhood Food Stores, 67 Sugarcreek Stores and ten Tops Xpress stores.
 
Ahold said the intended divestment of the Tops’ convenience stores is part of its strategic plan to restructure its portfolio in order to focus on core food businesses.


The company said it has not set a time frame for the completion of the divestment.
