Biscuit and snack company Albemarle Edibles has announced the introduction of its first snack mix, Tailgate Time.

To be launched at the New York Fancy Food Show in July, it is a sweet and savoury mix of peanuts, pecans, sesame sticks and other munchables. The label will be available in over 30 colour combinations at no additional charge. Those 30 colour combinations cover almost every high school and college sports team in America said Albemarle Edibles President Robert Northington.

Until now the company’s products were all based on the founder’s mother and paternal grandmother’s recipes for cheese biscuits with pecans, lemon tea cookies and snaps of ginger.

The name Tailgate time refers to eating a picnic behind a vehicle, often at sports events. “People tailgate everywhere,” said Northington, “no matter what part of the country you live in or how good your team is. Football fans are particularly talented at tailgating and we aim to be on as many tailgates as we can, supporting the owner of that tailgate with a great snack mix in the colours of his or her team.”
