USA: Allergy Alert: Undeclared Milk Protein in Strudel

Western Waffles Ltd. manufacturer
of private label frozen toaster strudel, is notifying people with allergies to
milk protein not to consume various flavors of strudel due to undeclared whey
powder found in the icing included with the product. Brands affected in the US
are Finast, Morning Fresh Farms, Laura Lynn and Harris Teeter. All companies are
voluntarily recalling the following products:

Finast is sold in a 11.5
oz package containing six strudels. Finast product is distributed at Edward’s
Super Food Stores in New York and New Jersey, Giant Food Stores in Pennsylvania
and Martin’s Food Markets in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania.
The four flavors included in this recall are:

Morning Fresh Farms is
sold in a 11.5 oz package containing six strudels. Morning Fresh product is
distributed at Lowe’s Foods, Acme, Community Cash Stores, The Fresh Market,
Whole Foods Markets and Plus Inc. in District of Columbia, North Carolina, Tennessee,
South Carolina and Virginia. The four flavors included in this recall are:

Laura Lynn is sold in a
11.5 oz package containing six strudels. Laura Lynn product is distributed at
Ingles stores in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee
and Virginia. The four flavors included in this recall are:

Harris Teeter is sold in
a 11.5 oz package containing six strudels. Harris Teeter is distributed at Harris
Teeter stores in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia
and Florida. The two flavors included in this recall are:

This information is of
concern only to those who suffer from allergies to milk protein. Milk proteins
can cause an allergic reaction in susceptible persons. There has not been a
reported illness associated with this product in the United States.

The supplier is working
diligently to have these products removed immediately from retail while labeling
corrections are made.
