AlliantLink.com, Inc., the Web-based order-entry and service delivery company of Alliant Exchange, Inc., has developed customized e-business solutions for San Francisco-based Chevys, Inc., the largest independent Mexican restaurant operator in the U.S.

Using AlliantLink.com, Chevys’ Restaurant Support Center has instant access to ordering information from each of its 178 restaurants. The corporate purchasing department can check whether all units are using specified items and can track more than two years of purchasing information by the unit, region or entire system. Purchasing executives can also access the product catalogs of the 22 Alliant distribution centers that serve Chevys’ restaurants. The accounts payable department uses AlliantLink.com to track receivables, credits and account status.

“AlliantLink.com was created as an e-business solution provider, with advanced functionality that exceeds its core capabilities of order entry, access to the Alliant Foodservice catalog and sophisticated reporting,” said Barbara G. Moss, senior vice president, external technology and chief information officer for Alliant Exchange.

“The solutions we are providing Chevys are just a beginning. We are addressing a variety of additional business needs, and we hope to bring all the individual restaurants onto the AlliantLink.com order-entry system within the year,” she said.

“Our stores order from 22 Alliant distribution centers nationwide, and it’s nice to have access to all the information that we need in one user-friendly operating system,” said Patrick La Cava, vice president of purchasing and facilities for Chevys.

Chevys is installing high-speed Internet access lines in its stores, and three California units will soon pilot AlliantLink.com as an order-entry tool.

“What we really like about AlliantLink.com is that you have up-to-the-minute information and the capability of reserving your inventory,” said LaCava. “If the pilot goes well, we’ll look at potentially a fourth-quarter rollout to all the stores.”
