US supermarket operator The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company has announced the promotion of Brenda Galgano to senior vice president and chief financial officer of the company, effective immediately.

As the new CFO, Galgano succeeds Mitchell Goldstein, who has left the company to pursue other opportunities.
A&P also announced the promotion of Melissa Sungela to vice president and corporate controller, succeeding Galgano in that role. Sungela was previously vice president and assistant corporate controller.
A&P operates 417 stores in ten states under the following banners: A&P, Waldbaum’s, The Food Emporium, Super Foodmart, Super Fresh, Farmer Jack, Sav-A-Center, and Food Basics.
