US supermarket operator Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co (A&P) is reported to be in the process of selling its Eight O’Clock Coffee brand to private equity firm Gryphon Investors for around US$150m.

According to a report in the New York Post the proposed deal is in the late stages of negotiations but could still fall apart. If it goes ahead, however, the deal could be announced within the next few weeks.
