ARAMARK, a world leader in managed services, announced today that it had won the world’s largest competitively-bid contract for foodservice – worth $700 million – when it was selected by The Boeing Company to provide services to the Seattle-based company’s 103 locations across the country.
The 10-year contract calls for ARAMARK to provide foodservice, vending and office coffee services to Boeing’s employee base of nearly 200,000. More than 600 ARAMARK employees will be involved in providing the services at every level of Boeing’s organization – from executive dining rooms to office locations, plant facilities and vending machines.
For ARAMARK, the win was particularly noteworthy given the company’s longstanding ties with the Douglas part of the Boeing organization that date back to 1935 when Davre Davidson, ARAMARK’s founder, won Douglas Aircraft as his first customer. Douglas Aircraft became McDonnell Douglas, which then became part of Boeing when the two companies merged in 1997.
“This win is gratifying in that it is built from a long-term partnership that has a great deal of value and historic significance to us,” said Joseph Neubauer, Chairman and CEO of ARAMARK. “We look forward to finding even more ways to create economic value for this industry leader.”
Boeing recently expanded its partnership with ARAMARK in both the uniform services and conference center management areas. Boeing selected ARAMARK Uniform & Career Apparel to provide uniform services at Boeing locations across the country. In addition, ARAMARK was selected by Boeing to manage a range of services – including security, housekeeping, conference and guest services, food and beverage, maintenance and groundskeeping – at the Boeing Leadership Center in St. Louis.
“Boeing is confident that ARAMARK will continue to provide superior services under this company-wide contract,” said Bud Dennison, senior manager for Employee Programs, Boeing Shared Services Group.
