US branded food maker Aurora Foods has said it is to close its Missouri operations as part of its bankruptcy plan to merge with Pinnacle Foods.

Aurora is to close its St Louis headquarters and a product development centre by the end of March, leading to the loss of up to 170 jobs, reported the Associated Press.

The company’s corporate functions will be consolidated into those of Pinnacle Foods, which has its headquarters in New Jersey.

The combined company will have brands such as Aurora’s Duncan Hines baking mixes and Lender’s bagels, and Pinnacle’s Vlasic pickles and Swanson frozen foods.
