Burger King Corporation yesterday [Monday] announced that it had selected NCR Corp. to deploy point-of-sale (POS) terminals in its 580 corporate-owned restaurants throughout the US.

NCR will serve as the sole US POS provider for Burger King company-owned restaurants. Burger King company restaurants already use Compris, NCR’s foodservice application.

Rollout of the NCR RealPOS 7454 will conclude in July. Designed to perform during constant use, the new POS system will provide a platform for Burger King to take advantage of new technologies designed to improve the operations of the restaurant. Flexibility, investment protection and NCR’s breadth of services and support infrastructure were cited as key reasons for the decision to go with NCR.

“NCR’s ability to provide and quickly deploy the latest POS technology heavily impacted our decision,” said Burger King’s vice president and chief information officer, Rafael Sanchez. “We are confident in NCR’s ability to deliver great software, and we now have one technology partner who can enhance and efficiently support the entire point at which we interact with our customers. We believe this will result in greater productivity and, ultimately, improve customer service at the point of sale.”
