Grocery chain workers in California have approved a new three-year contract after negotiations took place between unions and companies over the weekend.
The new contract will cover union members, including truck drivers and office, warehouse and dairy staff, working at Albertson’s, Stater Brothers Supermarkets, Ralph’s, Unified Western Grocers and Vons.
Members of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters were working on a contract extension, which was due to expire on Saturday. The union had objected to grocery companies’ initial wage offers, health insurance and pension plans, reported Reuters News.
