Cargill Turkey Products has voluntarily initiated a recall of 16.7 million pounds of ready-to-eat poultry products produced at its Waco, Texas facility because of the possibility of contamination by Listeria monocytogenes. Cargill/Plantation production included some products bearing the Boar’s Head brand.
All products affected by the recall bear the establishment number P-635.
“We very much regret any inconvenience this will cause for our customers and consumers,” said Robert Martin, chief executive officer of Boar’s Head. “We are working closely with Cargill to expedite this recall. Our distributors have already taken action to withdraw these particular products from stores. Consumers who have any questions about products may call our 800 number.”
“We are very proud of our history of producing high quality, wholesome products, and wish to stress that this recall by Cargill in no way reflects on the wholesomeness of products from our own facilities, or on the dedication of our 2000 employees to quality,” Martin added. “Ours is a fourth generation family business that is very proud of the reputation it has built over the last 95 years. Our consumers have come to expect the best from us. We will take any step necessary to honor that trust.”
Consumers with questions may call the Boar’s Head Hotline at 1-800-352-6277.
