SCT (Nasdaq: SCTC), leading the e-engineering of the process industries, announced today that Cargill, Inc., has selected SCT’s iProcess.sct to provide the order management solution for its North American Food Operations. Cargill North American businesses using the solution will include: malt, salt, juice products, oilseeds, flour and corn milling, and well-known brands such as Excel Meats, Honeysuckle White Turkey, Wilbur Chocolates and Sunny Fresh Foods.

By the time the three-year implementation is complete, Cargill users and customers conducting business on iProcess.sct could exceed 5,000. The first license installment was recognized in SCT’s second fiscal quarter, which ended March 31, 2000.

Cargill will implement iProcess.sct, which includes iOrder.sct — a sell- side Internet B2B solution — and SCT’s Adage fully integrated sales order management solution as its transactional backbone. iProcess.sct is expected to be deployed to conduct sales transactions between Cargill and all its North American food customers. iProcess.sct also includes the Fygir Supply Chain Suite, which is utilized in several areas of Cargill, including North America, Latin America and Europe.

“We know that being an e-business takes more than just opening an Internet storefront,” said Lloyd Taylor, CIO for Cargill, Inc. “To reliably meet Internet commitments, B2B e-commerce requires solutions tied to the transactional backbone and supply chain optimizers. SCT is the only vendor currently delivering these functionally rich, integrated components to the process manufacturing marketplace. Standardizing these vital operations with the integrated SCT solution will improve our customer service and increase sales both through traditional and e-business channels.” Taylor added, “With this implementation, we will quickly build upon our success with SCT to deliver added benefit to our customers.”

“Cargill has been a terrific partner over the last 16 months and this agreement brings the partnership to a new, long-term, strategic level. We are delighted to have been chosen as their sell-side solution,” said Roy Zatcoff, president of SCT’s global manufacturing & distribution solutions. “Our enterprise agreement with Cargill is a powerful validation of success and expanded commitment to SCT solutions, and also indicates the momentum of SCT’s e-business solution for large-scale process manufacturers.”

Zatcoff explained that the market requires industry-focused e-business, supply chain planning and execution solutions that enable companies to reliably meet Internet commitments and provide outstanding service to customers. Process industry manufacturers and distributors are faced with increasing pressure to develop new markets, open new distribution channels and strengthen supply chain partnerships. In addition, these organizations must address a layer of unique requirements caused by product availability, variability, seasonality, quality and shelf life.
