The research found that antioxidant vitamins such as Vitamins C, E and beta-carotene actually increased the liver’s production of low-density lipoproteins (LDL), a leading factor in the build-up of plaque in the arteries that causes heart disease.


However, doctors involved in the study cautioned against the abandonment of vitamin supplement, as the tests were performed on mice and because vitamins are beneficial for treating other ailments.
