As a 501(c)(3) charity, Needful Provision, Inc. (NPI) has expanded research, development, demonstration and education efforts related to self-help and self-sufficiency technologies with emphasis on Community Food Security (CFS) and associated income producing micro-enterprises. NPI seeks to aid poor and disadvantaged populations worldwide without discrimination. CFS training models are already being constructed on NPI’s 200 acre facility in Cherokee County, Oklahoma.
Community Food Security projects were officially established under the 1996 Federal Agricultural Improvement and Reform Act (FAIR). These projects are intended to help meet the needs of low income people by increasing their direct access to more nutritious food supplies while also creating self- reliance and promoting positive solutions to local problems. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) now awards some $2.5 million yearly for support of new CFS projects. NPI has applied for a $250,000 USDA grant. Most CFS projects are focused on pockets of extreme poverty. NPI is focused on aiding CFS development for disadvantaged populations in the U.S. and overseas.
The Community Food Service Coalition (tel: 310-822-5410) has been promoting and coordinating CFS efforts in the U.S. for over five years. NPI’s founder and NextPath’s Chairman, David A. Nuttle, has been developing and implementing CFS and economic / micro-enterprise projects in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and the U.S. for four decades. As a result of these efforts, Mr. Nuttle created a number of unique self-help, self- sufficiency technologies to help meet basic human needs. Mr. Nuttle’s technologies, all donated to NPI, received prior validation by a series of grants awarded after positive scientific peer review by specialist from the grant agencies including the USDOE, USDA and National Science Foundation among others.
NPI has licensed Mr. Nuttle’s inventions, which are protected by patents and utilize certain trade secrets, to NextPath Technologies, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: NPTK – news) under a “quid-pro-quo”, two-track development agreement. NPI directs the final testing of its technologies for charitable uses and perfects commercial uses for NextPath. One commercial application will be the manufacture of CFS kits for sale to village cooperatives, governmental agencies, humanitarian organizations and families who wish to produce their own organic foods. Other examples of several commercial kits will include micro-algae / biodiesel production raceways and self-help, self- sufficiency home packages. (See the July 19, 2000 NPI news release on the bio-diesel project.)
NPI also announces development of “Authenticated Barter Trade”, also known as “A-Trade”, an innovative type of e-commerce designed to help poor populations acquire basic essentials. As a typical example, a needy tribe in Africa offers to trade a natural antibiotic made from a local root extract for CFS kits. Such barter trade will allow NPI to help some two billion poor who are isolated from the world’s cash economies. New technologies make this trade most feasible even in remote, primitive areas.
