ConAgra Foods (NYSE: CAG), one of America’s leading food companies, announced Friday (27 April) that Mark Rauenhorst, of the Opus Corp., and General John T. Chain Jr., of the Thomas Group, were appointed to ConAgra Foods’ Board of Directors.

Mark Rauenhorst is President and Chief Executive Officer of Opus Corporation, one of the largest and most successful commercial real estate development and construction firms in the United States with revenues of $1.4 billion. Opus has 28 offices located across the country that build office, warehouse and retail projects, and develop business parks.

Mr. Rauenhorst joined Opus in 1982. He became President and CEO of Opus Northwest, L.L.C. in 1996, which encompassed all activities related to project development, including site acquisitions, zoning, market analysis, financial feasibility, government approvals, marketing, leasing and property management. In April 1999, Mr. Rauenhorst became President of Opus Corporation and in April 2000, was also named Chief Executive Officer.

In addition to the Opus Board, Mr. Rauenhorst currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Creighton University and Graco, Inc. His professional affiliations include the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), Urban Land Institute (ULI), and the Young President’s Organization. He is also active in numerous civic organizations.

General John T. Chain Jr. is Chairman of the Thomas Group, an international management consulting firm. A distinguished member of the military, Gen. Chain served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1991. During his career, he held a number of commands, including Commander-in-Chief of the Strategic Air Command and Director of the Joint Strategic Target Planning Staff. He is a command pilot with thousands of flying hours, including combat time, in more than 45 different military aircraft. Gen. Chain retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1991.

Gen. Chain currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Northrop Grumman Corporation, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Holdings, Inc., and Thomas Group, Inc., and is President of Quarterdeck Equity Partners, Inc., an investor in the aerospace industry. He also served as a Director of Nabisco until its sale in December 2000.
