Omaha, Neb.-based ConAgra Foods, one of the largest packaged food companies in the US, has announced that William G. Jurgensen of Nationwide, and David H. Batchelder, of Batchelder & Partners, have been appointed to ConAgra’ board of directors.
Jurgensen has been chairman and CEO of Nationwide, one of the largest insurance and financial services companies in the world, since 2000. Based in Columbus, OH, Nationwide is a US$113bn company offering a broad range of personal and commercial insurance and long-term savings products.
Prior to that, Jurgensen was executive VP of Bank One Corporation, where he was in charge of corporate banking and commercial banking products, operations, finance and systems.
Jurgensen also currently serves as a member of the Financial Services Roundtable, the Economic Club of Chicago, and the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations. He and serves as vice chairman and trustee of Loyola University-Chicago, a trustee of The Newberry Library and a member of the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce board of directors.
Batchelder is a managing member of Relational Investors LLC, an investment fund, and founder and chairman of Batchelder & Partners, a San Diego, CA-based financial advisory firm that provides strategic advice to a select group of clients.
