The company said that with the conversion of all Parkay soft items – Original Spread, Light Spread, Calcium Spread, Original Squeeze and Fat Free Spray – Parkay joins Fleischmann’s and Blue Bonnet in removing trans fats from its soft spread products.

Within the Fleischmann’s brand family, all four soft spread varieties – Original, Unsalted, Light and Made With Olive Oil – were trans fat-free as of June 2004. Both Blue Bonnet soft items – Homestyle Spread and Light Spread – were also trans fat-free as of August 2004.

“Consumers increasingly have been paying greater attention to their diets, from looking to cut carbs and cholesterol to watching fat and sodium intake,” said Sharon McLenahan, vice president of marketing for ConAgra Foods’ dairy brands.
