Irvine, California-based ConAgra Grocery Products is voluntarily recalling about 17,000 cases of Chef Boyardee 99% Fat Free Cheese Ravioli in Tomato Sauce because they may have been mislabelled.
Some of the cans labelled 99% Fat Free Cheese Ravioli in Tomato Sauce may actually instead be 99% Fat Free Beef Ravioli in Tomato and Meat Sauce. In addition to containing meat this product also contains a soy protein, a known allergen.
Consumers who have a sensitivity to soy could experience an allergic reaction if they consume the product. The product is safe to consume for those who have no sensitivity to soy. There have been no reports of illness or allergic reaction.
The recall involves 15-ounce size cans labelled Chef Boyardee 99% Fat Free Cheese Ravioli in Tomato Sauce with the code 794 J17101 RF on the second line. The cans were distributed nationwide and internationally through retail stores.
Consumers are asked to return cans of Chef Boyardee 99% Fat Free Cheese Ravioli in Tomato Sauce with these codes to their grocer for a full refund. No other Chef Boyardee products are affected by this recall.
