ConAgra Foods, one of the largest packaged food companies in the US, has revealed several new innovations in the shelf-stable pudding snack category.
Squeez ‘n Go
The new Squeez ‘n Go Portable Pudding will be introduced this summer. The company says it is the first-ever shelf-stable pudding in a convenient, single-serve, hand-held tube. Containing no preservatives and available in six flavours, it requires no refrigeration or no spoon.
“Convenience is a major factor for moms when choosing snacks for their families,” said Charlene Lee, brand manager for the snacks business unit of ConAgra’s Grocery Foods Group, who added that the product is expected to have particular appeal to active kids ages six to12.
Marketing support for the Squeez ‘n Go puddings will include sponsorship of skateboarder Tony Hawk’s Boom Boom HuckJam Tour and national television advertising. In-store promotional programmes, freestanding inserts (FSI) and cross-promotional packaging will also be part of the marketing mix. From 15 August, an interactive website will feature Squeez ‘n Go product information.

Additionally, Snack Pack introduces five new products geared towards children aged four to 11 and featuring Scooby-Doo, The Powerpuff Girls and Looney Tunes via a licensing agreement with Warner Bros. consumer products. Each four-pack features licensed characters on the box, as well as embossed characters on the bottom of each cup and collectible cards for each character in all packs. All five varieties will hit store shelves later this summer.
Adult audience
Finally, for the more adult audience, ConAgra Foods and Snack Pack will add a new Dulce de Leche flavour to its successful line of Dessert Favorites pudding snacks. A national FSI will drop in the autumn, and in-pack coupons will be offered as well. The products, available in four-packs, will also arrive in stores this summer.
