US meat processor ConAgra has said it will close a Butterball turkey processing plant in Wallace, North Carolina, in a move that will lead to 450 job losses.

The company said operations at the Wallace plant would stop on 14 March and production would be transferred to a Midwest plant.

ConAgra, which has operated a Butterball turkey facility in Wallace since 1990, said it is in talks to sell the facility as an operating entity, which would mean that the buyer would take on the facility’s workforce, reported Dow Jones International News.
