Fed up with the increase in obesity lawsuits, personal responsibility advocate The Center for Consumer Freedom has suggested Thanksgiving hosts this year might consider having their guests sign a legal waiver, protecting themselves against potential legal action.
“During this season when food cops, public health activists, and trial lawyers are promoting hysteria about the nation’s expanding waistline, the Center for Consumer Freedom believes that Thanksgiving should remain a holiday for giving thanks and indulging,” the group said.
It suggests dinner hosts download a Thanksgiving Guest Liability and Indemnification Agreement for their guests to sign before the meal.
The Center for Consumer Freedom is a coalition of restaurants, food companies and consumers and is aimed at promoting personal responsibility and protecting consumer choice.
