Datastream Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: DSTM) today announced that Del Monte Foods Company (NYSE: DLM), the largest producer and distributor of premium quality, branded processed fruit, vegetable and tomato products in the United States, has selected Datastream’s iProcure(TM) network as its online procurement solution. Operating efficiencies and cost savings were key decision drivers for Del Monte Foods, which markets its products under three primary brands: Del Monte, Contadina and Sunfresh.

The iProcure(TM) network automates electronic commerce for maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) procurement, which is an element of the total asset management cycle. Del Monte Foods joins the more than 300 Datastream customers, including Lear, USFilter and ConAgra Frozen Foods, using the iProcure(TM) network. Customers are turning to the iProcure(TM) network to streamline the procurement process, allowing for increased savings by gaining cost-efficient access to maintenance parts and supplies from leading distributors, including Applied Industrial Technologies, Fastenal Company, Ferguson Enterprises, LL National, MSC Industrial Supply, Office Depot and WESCO Distribution.

“Del Monte is dedicated to providing superior quality products while incorporating improved business processes,” said Glen Lewis, western region procurement manager for Del Monte Foods. “Datastream’s iProcure(TM) purchasing network gives immediate access to the materials and supplies that support our operations. We are also excited about the resulting efficiency gains in our direct and indirect procurement. The combination of the iProcure(TM) network’s industrial expertise, and its top-notch list of suppliers made iProcure(TM) a solid choice for our online procurement activity.”

“Leading companies such as Del Monte are reaping the benefits of streamlined procurement processes,” said Greg Jackson, vice president of iProcure. “By automating their asset procurement process via the iProcure network, Del Monte can optimize its administrative processes, purchasing procedures and vendor management. We look forward to working with Del Monte to provide a complete procurement solution for their procurement needs.”
