Instill Corporation, the leading provider of e-business services for the $376 billion foodservice industry, yesterday announced that Delaware North Companies has expanded its contract with Instill to include online food procurement to the company’s independent foodservice operating units.

Delaware North, currently using Instill® Purchase Insight(SM) for purchase tracking, will add Instill Purchase Web(SM) e-procurement service for increased operating efficiency and cost savings across the companies’ five sub-divisions. These divisions include a diverse group of holdings from sports and recreation, racetrack, airport, National Parks to open-air marketplaces. Full deployment and roll out of the service is planned for end of first quarter 2001.

Instill Purchase Web is a Web-based e-procurement service designed specifically for multi-unit operators that enables a unit manager, chef or purchasing agent to buy food and supplies from its contracted vendors. Instill Purchase Web streamlines the ordering process to drive operating efficiency and creates greater control over the purchasing process.

“We’ve been using Instill’s purchase tracking service for some time and have been very pleased with the amount of money we have saved from using the service,” said Kent Belvin, vice president of Supply Management at Delaware North. “Adding Purchase Web to our procurement supply management strategy will help us manage our total food ordering process, and reduce system-wide costs.”

With Instill Purchase Insight, Delaware North has been able to see food product usage across all their units and consolidate that information to track unit compliance and collect other valuable data in order to negotiate sound contracts with their suppliers. The addition of the Instill Purchase Web service will streamline the food procurement process and ensure greater unit compliance on purchases.

“Delaware North has the challenge of delivering quality foodservice to their customers, that is unique in nature to each of their sub-divisions,” said Mack Tilling, CEO, Instill. “At the same time, they must also streamline their operational efficiency to order and receive their products at the right time, right place and at the right cost. Purchase Web can give them flexibility to control unit-level purchasing unique to their sub-divisions, while Purchase Insight can give them valuable information about their purchasing trends to better understand their business operations and supply chain.”
