Consumers can now easily add a look of classic elegance and cholesterol-lowering benefits to their favorite dishes with Harvest Reserve Walnut Halves, Diamond of California’s newest addition to its culinary nut family. Diamond Harvest Reserve Walnut Halves will be available in June in the fresh produce aisle of supermarkets nationwide. Diamond is the first national brand to offer consumers walnut halves.
The introduction of Diamond Harvest Reserve Walnut Halves follows the publication of new research in the April issue of the Annals of Internal Medicine showing that walnuts are proven to help lower cholesterol. This most recent health study concluded that daily consumption of just a handful of walnuts lowers the risk of coronary heart disease by 11 percent. Omega-3 fatty acids, plentiful in walnuts, can increase the body’s beneficial HDL cholesterol level while protecting the blood vessels from plaque buildup, one of the causes of heart attacks. Several health studies have shown a probable link between a diet rich in Omega-3 fatty acids and a reduced risk of heart disease, stroke and several forms of cancer.
Diamond’s premium Harvest Reserve Walnut Halves are an attractive and healthy addition to salads, hors d’oeuvres, main dishes and desserts. Diamond uses the finest quality Chandler walnut halves and conveniently packages them in colorful six-ounce stand up bags. Re-sealable packaging makes the product easy to store and helps maintain freshness.
“With new products like Harvest Reserve Walnut Halves, Diamond of California is making it easier and more convenient for consumers to enjoy the health benefits of walnuts,” said Michael Friedman, vice president of marketing for Diamond. “Harvest Reserve Walnut Halves provide an attractive, delicious and heart-healthy way to dress up any meal.”
Harvest Reserve Walnut Halves retail for $2.99 to $3.49 per package and are available in the fresh produce aisle. One 1/4-cup serving has 210 calories, 20 grams of fat, and no cholesterol. Diamond walnut halves are a good source of protein and Omega-3 fatty acids. Each package contains six servings.
