Foodbuy.com, a leading e-services firm in the foodservice industry, today announced that Judy Ford Stokes has been named director of customer business development. Formerly president of her own foodservice consulting firm, Stokes brings more than 32 years of food management, food design services and operational cost analyses experience to foodbuy.com.

Stokes will be responsible for foodbuy.com’s sales efforts to the institutional market, including healthcare, assisted living, correctional and long-term care facilities, and will primarily focus on building relationships with manufacturers, distributors and foodservice operators in this market.

“Judy is another key addition to our team because of her tremendous range of experience,” said Scott MacLellan, president and CEO, foodbuy.com. “Her extensive knowledge of everything from foodservice operations to purchasing to equipment will enhance foodbuy.com’s institutional sales strategy and ensure that we are meeting our customers’ needs.”

As an industry-recognized registered dietitian, Stokes previously was president of Judy Ford Stokes & Associates, Inc., where she consulted with more than 250 facilities nationwide, including Shadyside Hospital in Pennsylvania, Fulton County Hospital in Ohio and United Hospital in West Virginia, advising on food management, feasibility studies, systems and operational cost analyses, strategic planning, facility planning, productivity audits, branding and employee training.

Applying her extensive experience in the industry, Stokes also has written two best-selling textbooks, more than 200 articles for trade and business publications and numerous industry newsletters and training booklets. In addition, Stokes has served in numerous leadership roles with several local and national organizations, including The American Dietetic Association, Food Service Consultants Society International and the Consultant Dietitians in Health Care Facilities. And, in 1999, Stokes received The American Dietetic Association Foundation’s Award for Excellence in Management Practice, which recognizes one ADA member every year.

The foodservice industry is plagued with a supply chain that is cumbersome, fragmented and inefficient. Through proprietary technology, foodbuy.com has created back office solutions that streamline the data flow through the supply chain, allowing manufacturers, distributors and operators to realize significant savings. In addition, foodbuy.com has proven group-purchasing programs that leverage the buying power of more than 3,500 members, representing more than $700 million in annual purchases.
