Cranbury, New Jersey-based Linguagen, which develops ingredients used to improve the taste of food and beverages, has announced the appointment of F. Raymond Salemme, to the position of chief executive officer.

Salemme will be charged with setting the strategic vision for Linguagen’s presence in the food and beverage and pharmaceutical markets, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company. Shawn M. Marcell, who has been serving as the company’s acting CEO, will remain at Linguagen as chief operating officer.
Previously, Salemme served as president and chief scientific officer of 3-Dimensional Pharmaceuticals, a company he founded in 1993.
