USA: Georgia Department of Agriculture announces company recalls chicken patties and nuggets

Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Tommy Irvin announced today that a Wisconsin company is recalling 483,000 pounds of fully cooked breaded chicken nuggets and patties because they may be contaminated with plastic.

The products were manufactured and distributed by Brakebush Brothers, Inc. of Westfield, Wisconsin, and were sold nationwide to institutional facilities such as hospitals, schools and restaurants. They were not sold at the retail level in Georgia.

“We have instructed our sanitarians to check all wholesale food sales establishments for the implicated products during their routine inspections,” said Commissioner Irvin. “If they find any for sale, they will place it under a ‘withhold from sale order’ for pickup by the distributor.”

The recalled products were produced from August 8 through November 27, 2000. Each box has a 9-digit code starting with the Julian code 221 through 332 corresponding to August 8 through November 27.

    The recalled products are:

    *  12-lb. boxes of Country Goodness Cooked Breaded Nugget Shaped Chicken

       Breast Patties.  Each box is marked with product code 5620 and stamped

       with a 9-digit code beginning with 2790.

    *  12-lb. boxes of CN Cooked Breaded Nugget Shaped Chicken Breast Patties.

       Each box is marked  with a product code of 5622 and stamped with a

       9-digit code beginning with 2210, 2790, 2850, 3120, or 3200.

    *  10-lb boxes of CN Cooked Chicken Breast Patties.  Each box is marked

       with product code 5912 and stamped with a 9-digit code beginning with

       3260 or 3320.

    *  10-lb. boxes of Chik-licious Hoagie Shaped Cooked Breaded Chicken

       Breast Patties with rib meat.  Each box is marked with product code

       5931 and stamped with a 9-digit code beginning with 3260.

    *  10-lb. boxes of Chik-licious Cooked Breaded Chicken Breast Patties.

       Each box is marked with  product code 5944 and stamped with a 9-digit

       code beginning with 3260.

    *  1,060-lb. boxes of Fully Cooked Breaded Nugget Shaped Chicken Breast

       Patties.  Each box is marked with a product code of 900485 and stamped

       with a 9-digit code beginning with 2210.
