US convenience store operator 7-Eleven has reported a 4.5% rise in same-store merchandise sales in the US in December, boosted by the ongoing grocery strikes in southern California.
The company said the strikes accounted for around half a percentage point of the same-store merchandise sales increase, reported Dow Jones News Service.
Total merchandise sales in December rose 5.4% from a year earlier to US$623.1m. Total December sales including fuel rose 6.7% to $901.0m.
The company operates or franchises around 5,800 7-Eleven convenience stores in the US and Canada.
