Heinz Frozen Food Company announced today that sales of its Boston Market(R) Frozen Meals reached $130 million in retail sales the first year of national distribution, making the premium line the fastest-growing new brand in the frozen meals category.
Heinz Frozen Food, an affiliate of the H.J. Heinz Company (NYSE:HNZ), said sales of Boston Market Frozen Meals are on track to easily surpass its original forecast, fueled by strong consumer trial and acceptance. Boston Market Frozen Meals offer restaurant-style selections for consumers who crave mealtime solutions that combine signature recipes, hearty portions, premium quality and full flavor with quick and easy heat-and-serve convenience.
“Robust sales of Boston Market Frozen Meals in the first year made the product line the undisputed growth leader in the dynamic $6 billion frozen meals category in North America,” said Neil Harrison, president and chief executive officer of Heinz Frozen Food Company. “This exciting product launch has proven to be one of the most successful in the history of Heinz and one of the biggest ever in frozen meals. Heinz Frozen Food Company achieved national distribution of Boston Market Frozen Meals in fiscal 2001.
